Claimed to be eye-safe, this laser rangefinder module provides five measurements per second at distances of over 20km on a clear day.

The laser is erbium glass, with diode laser pumping at 1.54µm, and the receiver is an InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD).

“These are more expensive than germanium APDs, but InGaAs APDs are significantly lower noise current, exhibit spectral response to 1.7µm, and provide higher frequency bandwidth for a given active area,” claimed Premier Electronics which is supplying the module.

Ranging resolution is 2.5m with multiple target discrimination of 30m.

Ranging logic is first, second or last echo, and there is a built in video channel.

The unit is 225x130x128mm, weighs 1.85Kg, and runs off 20-32V over -37 to +65°C.

Vibration and shock level are in accordance with MIL-STD-810F.
